A Psalm of Maggie Valley

(Call…)

Sing                             mountains roaring as

                                    you rise

Sing                             clouds

                                    gracious in passing

Sing                             cross, strongest

                                    shout-Glory!

Sing                             forest arbor, from multifaceted

                                    formation

Sing                             soil, from which

                                    copious lives birth

Sing                             stones, creating

                                    anchors, stability

Sing                             breeze, quietly also

                                    loud refrain

Sing                             birds, uniquely

                                    whistle, call, cry

Sing                             grass, presenting

                                    self as canvas

Sing                             locusts, mysterious bass-

                                    line backing other voices

Sing                             daughters of eve

                                    tune of beauty, pain, sorrow

Sing                             sons of adam, broken, destructive

                                    cared for voice

(…Response)

each one heard clearly; but for

scant moments; thankful the interlude

lament in its passing

Present observing, tiny yellow moth

fluttering assuring aimlessness

beautifully, winding in, through,

around exulted, purposeful

song.  voice.  life

Living.

Joining this ballad:

celebration, lament,

wonder, doubt,

fear, laughter

questioning…declaration

mine-vocals unsteady

but sure—flat, sharp…

at times in tune,

on pitch.  quite unlike

consistency of creation’s voice(s);

Aligned with you still.  all

belonging, beloved.  all

singularly focused

upon

Creator—so unique,

communal, loving

strong, creative

                                                                                                                        worthy.

               Voice.
